Since 1987, The American Cinematheque has provided diverse film programming and live in-person discussions and events with thousands of filmmakers and luminaries, presenting both new and repertory cinema to Los Angeles. True to the hope and intent of Sydney Pollack, the American Cinematheque is a place where both the public and members of the film industry come together as a community with the common language of film.
Created and hosted by disabled filmmaker and writer, Michael C. Cooney, along with world renowned Filipino family musician, C.J. Pizarro aka Mista Cookie Jar. This LA based podcast is about real stories of struggle, pain, creativity, and joy. Together with our non-profit friends at Institute for Maximum Human Potential (IMHP), we are seeking to fundraise to maintain and expand our podcast. The money from your generous, tax deductible donations will go towards equipment, employment, and getting the word out. More importantly, we are seeking to create an artistic community.
Started in 2007 by veteran filmmaker Joey Travolta, the program teaches filmmaking to individuals with developmental disabilities in six dedicated production studios throughout California. In addition to our workshops, we travel the country doing short film camps for children and adults with developmental disabilities.
The Art Deco Society of Los Angeles is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and awareness of Art Deco as a major influence on the 20th century and beyond. Since 1983, the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles has welcomed people with an interest in the many facets of Art Deco. More recently, we have refined our efforts into three major areas: education, preservation and socializing with other “Deco-Philes” in beautiful environments throughout the Los Angeles area.
The Roxie Theater, a San Francisco landmark in the Mission District, brings people together to meet and connect through distinctive cinematic experiences. Guided by the passionate belief that engaging with a movie doesn’t end with the credits, we invite filmmakers, curators, entertainers and educators to interact with our audiences. We provide inspiration and opportunity for the next generation, and serve as a forum for the independent film community reflecting the spirit of the diverse Bay Area population.
